Playa Aguja, at the end of the Rio Agujas, is a small, sheltered cove beach with very light wave action except at the southeast end, where when the swells are big enough there is a very good point-break which attracts surfers “in season.” “Aguja” is Spanish for “needle,” and it’s anybody’s guess why the river is needles and the beach is just one needle!
